PLAY THERAPY

Play Therapy helps children understand confusing feelings and upsetting events they haven't been able to sort out and may not be able to describe. Rather than having to verbalize what is troubling them, as adult therapy usually expects, children use play to communicate at their own level and at their own pace, without feeling interrogated, teased or corrected. Play therapy may include doll play, art projects, puppet play, fantasy/make-believe play, building/construction activities and sandtray therapy. While the play therapist will be accepting of what the child presents, restrictions will be placed on such things as destroying materials, physically harming the therapist or child, or going beyond a set time limit. Through effective play therapy the child can manipulate the world at their own level, gain access to hidden emotions and begin to overcome their problems.

Play Therapy services are provided by Dr. Christina Fasse, Dr. Kathleen Hess and Dr. Ghazaleh Rafati.
